Authorities announced Wednesday that they have charged two individuals in relation to the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs supporters whose bodies were discovered during a watch party in January of last year.

Ivory Carson and Jordan Wills are charged with three charges of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of providing a controlled substance each, according to an arrest warrant, in connection with the deaths of three pals from high school—Ricky Johnson, 38; Clayton McGeeney, 36; and David Harrington, 37.

On January 9, 2024, police discovered the dead in the backyard of a home located on NW 83rd Terrace in the city. All three died from combined cocaine and fentanyl intoxication, according to autopsies.

Street Drugs cited as cause of death for Chiefs fans

The offenders were charged in a probable cause statement with “recklessly causing the deaths.” The maximum penalty for each charge is ten years in prison. Willis has informed police that he will turn himself in and post a $100,000 case bond, while Carson is now in custody in Platte County on a $100,000 case bond.

Eric Zahnd, the prosecutor for Platte County, stated at a press conference on Wednesday: “This case is a tragic reminder of the dangers of street drugs,”. “But make no mistake, the people who supply those drugs can and will be held accountable when people overdose.”

According to McGeeney’s fiancé, the three guys watched the game on January 7 at Jordan Willis’s house. She saw McGeeney’s pickup truck outside and proceeded to the house when she was unable to get in touch with him. According to court filings cited by Kansas City’s NBC affiliate KSHB, the witness entered the property through a basement window after no one answered the door.

She contacted the police after discovering a body on the back patio. The night of the game, the temperature fell below freezing.

Text exchanges reveal that the males had consented to be given drugs, and witnesses reported to police that they witnessed the victims using drugs, including beer and marijuana, on January 7.
