Rapper Lil Wayne just announced that he won’t be attending Super Bowl LIX after Kendrick Lamar was announced to perform at the Halftime Show. That’s some big news right there!

Now, we all know Lil Wayne is a huge artist in his own right, so it’s surprising to hear that he won’t be at the Super Bowl which is happening in his hometown, New Orleans.

The rapper ended up teasing something “very special.”

Lil Wayne made headlines when Los Angeles-based rapper Kendrick Lamar was announced as the Super Bowl halftime performer, with many saying he was “snubbed” for not being selected to take the field in his hometown.

The rapper even publicly expressed his feelings in an Instagram post nearly a week after Lamar was named the headliner. He said being overlooked “broke” him, adding that “I’m just trying to put myself back together.”

Over the years, Wayne has been vocal about his desire to perform during halftime of the NFL’s championship game. It will be the second time Lamar will perform during the halftime show after he made a guest appearance with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Eminem in 2022.

Wayne appeared upset in the video, where he said he had to muster up enough strength to express his thoughts “without breaking.”

“That hurt a whole lot,” he said. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown, for automatically mentally putting myself in that position. I thought there was nothing better than that spot, on that stage, on that platform in my city.”

But let’s talk about Kendrick Lamar for a second. That rapper is talented. I mean, his performances are always fire and he brings so much energy to the stage. It’s no wonder he got tapped to headline the Super Bowl. That’s a major honor, and you know he’s going nail it!

So, whether you’re a Lil Wayne fan or a Kendrick Lamar fan, the Super Bowl LIX is going to be one great show. And hey, maybe Lil Wayne will have a change of heart and decide to show up after all. You never know in the world of music and entertainment.
