VIDEO: 5’5 Lucas Byrd Labelled A Brave Guy After Celebrating National Championship Title With 6-foot-2 Girlfriend

Lucas Byrd just won the national championship at 133 pounds, and let me tell you, he’s on top of the world right now. But that’s not even the best part – he celebrated his epic victory with his 6-foot-2 girlfriend, Ellie Holzman.

Now, if you’re anything like me, you might be thinking, “What’s the big deal?” Well, let me break it down for you. Lucas is only 5’5″ and his girlfriend is towering over him at 6’2″. That’s a big height difference, people! But you know what? Lucas isn’t fazed one bit. He’s rocking that height difference and showing the world what true bravery looks like.

I mean, think about it. Lucas could have easily let the whole height thing get to him. He could have hidden in the shadows or felt insecure about being with someone taller. But no, Lucas is having none of that. He’s embracing the love and support from his amazing girlfriend.

Standing at 5-foot-6 and competing in the 133-pound weight class, Byrd was able to beat his opponent – Drake Ayala of the University of Iowa – to win the title of best in his weight class nationally.

But in spite of his strong performance, it’s Byrd’s celebration that drew the most attention.

Once being declared the winner, Byrd ran off the mat and into the arms of his girlfriend, Ellie Holzman – who towers above him at 6-foot-2.

Holzman, who played volleyball at Illinois and was seen wearing an Illinois varsity jacket, embraced him in some tender scenes.

Holzman then paid tribute to his accomplishment with a post on social media.

‘You freaking did it baby! NATIONAL CHAMPION!,’ she posted on Instagram along with pictures of them celebrating.

‘I am so beyond proud of you. Coming back after a gnarly injury, rehab/recovery, and medical redshirt season to go all the way to the top. My SUPERSTAR!!!! The world is yours [heart emoji] ILL.’

Elsewhere on social media, plenty of people praised the ‘short king’ for his accomplishment and there were plenty of jokes about the height difference.

‘The guy won his division because he trains with heavyweights! Even at home!,’ one user joked.

Seriously, I have so much respect for Lucas. He’s proving to everyone that it’s not about how tall you are, it’s about the size of your heart. And let me tell you, this guy has a heart of gold. So, here’s to Lucas and his incredible girlfriend – they’re a true inspiration to us all. Keep shining, you two!
