Tyler Perry made headlines aplenty when it was revealed that he was in the mix to purchase BET.
Now it looks like the prolific entrepreneur is set make even more headlines. For, it’s being reported that he has finalized the deal to become majority owner of the world-renowned platform.

According to The Streamr, Perry has completed his acquisition of the BET Media Group (which includes VH1 and the BET+ streaming service) from Paramount Global.
Word is that the latter, who have already been in business with Perry as part of the BET+ venture, will retain minority ownership in the company.
While some of the other potential buyers have remained mum on developments (see: Diddy), billionaire Perry was vocal about his interest during an interview in March of this year. Indeed, he told ET:
“Rumor? No, it’s not a rumor, I’ve been there for four years now and had tremendous success. I wasn’t expecting this to happen, so, yes – if that is possible, I’m very, very interested in taking as much of it. If it’s possible, I’m gonna take as much of it as I can.”
Though no statements have been issued as of writing, formal announcements are expected imminently.
