Tyga may have caught some heat from fans of his fellow Young Money alum Drake after he was seen rocking out during Kendrick Lamar‘s Super Bowl halftime show in February, but the ‘Rack City‘ hitmaker later took to YouTube to clarify that he’s still very much down for the home squad.
Because this year’s Super Bowl was hosted in New Orleans, many clamored for hometown hero Lil Wayne to be the halftime headliner.
While the show’s organizers explained why the ‘Lollipop‘ rapper wasn’t selected, that didn’t stop Tyga (born Michael Ray Stevenson) from rooting for his Young Money mentor.
“I still wish Wayne could’ve did it because I know how much he means to New Orleans,” Stevenson said during a livestream before expressing how much the 42-year-old’s influence is baked “into the DNA” of the city.
.@Ciara previewed her song “Dance With Me” on @Tyga livestream & asked him to hop on it
“dont be slow to react! dance wit me now!
stick to mah body like a TAT!
do it just like DAT!
dance wit me
now! “pic.twitter.com/t7FITpRGMu

Weeks later, Tyga addressed the topic of the Super Bowl halftime show again – this time while on February 28 livestream with R&B superstar Ciara.
Nearly 14 years after the duo collaborated on the remix to the Mindless Behavior hit ‘My Girl,’ they revealed they’re set to reunite for a new song set for Ci’s upcoming album (the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Beauty Marks) and even previewed the tune (as seen in the video ab0ve).
While discussing their respective career achievements, Tyga launched into a praise session over Cici’s collaboration with his longtime friend Chris Brown while reviewing footage from their foiled tribute to Michael Jackson at the 2022 American Music Awards.
“You guys are so similar when it comes to dance; there’s nobody else [who can compare] to y’all two,” the rapper said before sharing, “…maybe one day [we can see you two] at the Super Bowl.”
Ciara couldn’t agree more with his assessment, not only pointing out that it’s her dream to perform at the “biggest spectacle on Earth” but that she also hopes the year she earns the coveted slot is the same year her footballer husband Russell Wilson is playing at the big game.
At the time of this report, Ci and Tyga have not revealed the release date of their new collaboration.
