Security In addition to Damar Hamlin‘s return to Buffalo, the Bills agreed to sign tackle Larry Ogunjobi on Wednesday, further bolstering their defensive front.
The Bills declared that they had reached a deal to sign Hamlin to a one-year deal. Meanwhile, an individual with knowledge of the agreement verified that Ogunjobi accepted a one-year contract with a guaranteed sum of $8 million. Since the arrangement is not finalized until later, the individual talked to The Associated Press under the condition of anonymity. The deal was initially reported by NFL.com.
A pending unrestricted free agent, Hamlin continues his incredible recovery from a near-death encounter two years ago by returning to Buffalo after starting 14 games the previous season.
After going into cardiac collapse during a game at Cincinnati in January 2023 and requiring on-field resuscitation, Hamlin decided to continue playing.
Entering his fifth season in Buffalo, the soon-to-be 27-year-old from the Pittsburgh region will go off against Cole Bishop, a second-year player, for a spot in the starting lineup opposite returning veteran Taylor Rapp.
Last season, Hamlin recorded 89 tackles and his first two career interceptions for the Bills. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 draft from the University of Pittsburgh and has made 27 starts in 48 games.
