Nicki Minaj is the peacekeeper the people need.
No stranger to being engaged in her fair share of Hip Hop beefs over the years, the Rap Queen was the surprising catalyst that royally turned the tide for Soulja Boy amid an ongoing social media beef he had with fellow rapper J. Cole.
As followers of the latter know, Cole recently took to Lil Yachty‘s ‘A Safe Place‘ podcast to reveal he was not initially a fan of the ‘Crank That’ hitmaker but later learned to appreciate his work.
“You know you like this sh*t, actually… What you’d be better off doing is you need to look at a Soulja Boy or you need to look at a such and such, whoever was out at that time… You’d be better off realizing that these dudes is talented,” he explained (as seen above). “They understand something that you don’t understand.”
The commentary rubbed Soulja (born DeAndre Way) the wrong way.
“Aye bruh don’t speak on me @JColeNC,” he wrote on Twitter in response. “I’m not lil pump, drake, or none of these rapper n****z. On God.”
He didn’t stop there. Days later, DeAndre kept firing shots at J.
“P-ssy n-nigga I wrote and produced a #1 record at 17 in 2006,” he said on social media. “Drake just gave you your first #1 this year; sit the f-ck down n-gga. You not all that; you don’t got a solo #1 record, I do.”
A live social media chat with Nicki (as captured by our friends TNT) was just the doctor ordered to cool the beef, however.
“Nicki just told me I took what he said wrong and that he was showing love, so I’m gonna let it go,” he told his 5.4 million followers on Twitter on Monday night. “My bad y’all; I really thought dude was hating on me.”
From there, Way followed with a direct apology to Cole.
At writing, Cole has not responded to the hoopla.
