On the chart dated August 26, ‘Cruel Summer’ is challenging for #1 with only 5 points behind the #1 spot. It currently sits at #3 on the chart update from Talk of the Charts.

If it manages to perform strongly and secure the #1 spot, then it will be the first song from Swift’s ‘Lover’ album to reach the position. The album had two songs peak at #2 with ‘ME’ and ‘You Need To Calm Down.’

Additionally, if it manages to secure the position then every Swift album since 2012’s ‘RED’ will have had a #1 single.
