Angela Bassett is answering the call—one last time. Reprising her role as Erika Sloane in ‘Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning.’

And she’s working the promotional trail, with the latest stop being the cover of EBONY Magazine.

The Oscar winner returns with a major promotion: from CIA director to President of the United States. And when she delivers the franchise’s signature line—“Your mission, should you choose to accept it.”

Speaking on the line, screen icon Bassett confessed:

“I was so nervous. I literally had to say Lord, help me get through this.”

Opening up about the empowered roles she continues to take, Bassett said:

“The representation is needed. It should not be impossible to be seen. I feel incredibly blessed. Not lucky, blessed with the roles that I’ve been able to portray on screen and stage.” 

Beyond M:I, she’s also changing Hollywood behind the scenes, championing diverse talent on ‘9-1-1‘ and through Bassett/Vance Productions.

“I have to support Black female directors and new writers. I love that aspect of the job.”
