Thanks to her top-selling album ‘Midnights,’ it appears the sun hasn’t quite yet set on Taylor Swift‘s time as Billboard 200 champion.
According to updated reports, the ‘Anti-Hero’-led project saved Swift from exiting the chart’s pole position for a fifth nonconsecutive week by selling an additional 151,000 equivalent album units. The extra figures bring the LP’s total American sales to approximately 2.75 million.
Also a personal milepost for her as it marks her fifth longest run atop the tally, only her albums ‘1989’ and ‘Fearless’ (11 weeks each), ‘Folklore‘ (8 weeks), ‘Red‘ (7 weeks), and ‘Speak Now‘ (6 weeks) have spent longer time at #1.
In fact, all the projects that contribute to Taylor Swift’s Billboard 200 history (including the aforementioned) have kept her atop the chart for a whopping 60 weeks over her 16-year career.
As such, she not only becomes the third artist in history to reach such a milestone but also the first female. The only acts to have longer reigns over the hitlist are King of Rock N’ Roll Elvis Presley (67) and The Beatles (132).
Check back later this week for an expanded recap of the holiday-dominated Billboard 200 on our weekly segment, ‘TGJ Chart Check: Billboard 200.
