Nothing on a basketball court makes 2024–25 NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander look twice. But he was clearly taken aback when he saw his encouraging wife sitting next to another man during the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 118-103 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the conference finals.
Luckily, the individual in question turned out to be Gilgeous-Alexander’s friend and former teammate Chris Paul. The Thunder star joked that it took him a moment to realize the connection.
When questioned about Paul’s presence, Gilgeous-Alexander responded: “Oh yeah, it was amazing,”. “Caught me off guard. I had to double take. I was like ‘Who is that sitting with my wife?’ I got a little tight but then I seen it was Chris [Paul] I was like ‘Alright, cool’.”
Paul was one of the people present as his old Thunder teammate raised the Michael Jordan Trophy.
