Nearly two months after rocking headlines for their shocking arrests, Sean Kingston and his mother Janice Turner were indicted by a grand jury on Friday (July 19) following charges of committing more than $1 million worth of fraud.
More inside.
As reported, the mother-son duo allegedly stole almost $500,000 in jewelry, $160,000 from a Cadillac Escalade dealer, over $200,000 from Bank of America, nearly $86,000 from the maker of customized beds, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank, and more.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that Kingston and his mother “unjustly enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers as payment for vehicles, jewelry, and other goods purchased.”
Each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud, Kingston and Turner respectively face up to 20 years behind bars if convicted.
The award-winning rapper was already serving two years of probation for trafficking stolen property at the time of his arrest.
Further, his mother served prison time in 2006 after pleading guilty to bank fraud.
