Full story below…

In a recent episode of ‘The Diary of a CEO’ podcast, Scooter Braun opened up about his long-standing feud with Taylor Swift, reflecting on the controversy that began in 2019 when he acquired Big Machine Label Group and with it, the masters to Swift’s first six albums.

Braun initially hoped that the acquisition would lead to collaboration with Swift, but was “shocked” when she publicly condemned the deal, calling it her “worst case scenario” and accusing him of bullying.

The situation escalated with public disputes over how the deal unfolded and whether Swift had been offered a fair chance to buy back her masters. Braun insists he made multiple offers, while Swift previously claimed his team demanded she sign an NDA before even entering negotiations. Eventually, Braun sold the catalog to Shamrock Holdings.

In May 2025, Swift revealed she had finally regained ownership of her original catalog by purchasing it from Shamrock, completing a years-long journey to reclaim her music.

Sharing his take, Braun said of the blow-back:

“When something happens to you that feels deeply unfair, and you can’t fix it, then you’ve really got to look at everything and realize the role you played in this or that, who you want to be.”

Watch the interview below:

Braun, now retired from artist management, said he’s happy for her and wishes her well, though he admitted the public fallout had a significant toll on his personal life and mental health.
