For, the singer-songwriter has scored her first #1 on the Official UK Singles Chart with seismic smash ‘Escapism. (ft. 070 Shake).’

Renowned for her commanding hooks on collaborative tracks and penning anthems for the likes of Beyonce, ‘Escapism.’ has seen the British belle earn breakout success in her own right and on her own terms.

Indeed, she’s achieved the feat less than a year after setting sail on a new journey as an independent artist.

An inescapable viral hit, the TikTok favorite amassed 5.6 million streams in the UK this week to snatch the top spot.

Reacting to the news, RAYE said:

 “We are Number 1 in the UK! It’s the first Number 1 of the year, it’s my first Number 1 in my life. I’m an independent artist, this is sickening! “This is proof [you should] back yourself, no matter what. Thank you, this is mad. These are happy tears!” 

RAYE’s debut album ‘My 21st Century Blues’ arrives on February 3.
