Ouch! Muni Long Confirms Her Smash ‘Made for Me’ Isn’t 2025 GRAMMY Eligible Despite Being One of 2024’s Biggest R&B Hits

With the 2024 megahit ‘Made for Me‘, GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Muni Long hushed the naysayers who believed her 2022 smash ‘Hrs & Hrs‘ was a fluke.

On the wings of exposure from a viral challenge that took over social media as well as a remix with Songbird Supreme Mariah Carey, the Jermaine Dupri-produced bop not only became her longest-charting single on the Billboard Hot 100 but also her second highest-charting hit yet (#20 peak).

Despite soaring to Platinum status and the top of R&B charts at the height of its popularity, however, one place fans of the tune shouldn’t expect to see it take flight is at the 2025 GRAMMYs.

Taking to Instagram on Monday (October 7), Long revealed plans to submit ‘Made’ for 2025 GRAMMY consideration in the Record of the Year and Best R&B Performance categories.

Much to her dismay, she was reminded the chart-topping song is ineligible for competition next year because it was submitted for nomination consideration in 2023 for the 2024 awards (ultimately before it became the hit the world knows it to be now).

To make matters worse, Made was officially released on September 15, 2023 – just one day before eligibility for the 2025 GRAMMYs (which opened on September 16, 2023).

” I wish I had a Time Machine,” she captioned the video to her 1.1 million followers on the platform. The quote references her single ‘Time Machine‘ from the 2022 album ‘Public Displays of Affection.’

Bummed fans take particular umbrage with the Recording Academy ruling given that ‘Made,’ despite being submitted for recognition, was never nominated.

Disappointment around the GRAMMY process was first brought to public attention by Dupri when he took to X (formerly known as Twitter) in March to address the madness.
