Lil Wayne Teases “Something Very Special” Just Before Superbowl

With a cryptic announcement scheduled for Thursday, February 6—just days before the big game in New Orleans—Lil Wayne is preparing to create waves ahead of Super Bowl LIX.

The rap icon is keeping everything under wraps while speculation goes wild, building suspense with a mysterious Instagram Story video. Wayne stated: “Y’all know I’m not going to be there this week, which means I guess there’s a seat to fill,” 

“Shout out to New Orleans, but I’ve been working on something very special. I got something exciting coming for you Thursday, the 6th. Until then… I’m chillin’.”

Although he hasn’t disclosed any details, fans are already speculating about Tunechi’s future plans. While some are speculating about an action tied to the Super Bowl, others are hoping for a surprise announcement of a single or project.

The time coincides with what may be a significant musical event as his long-teased album Tha Carter VI is anticipated to be released this year.

Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar controversy

Wayne made public his decision to skip the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which will feature Kendrick Lamar as the main act, back in December. Given their mutual regard and previous collaborations, several fans first thought Weezy would take the stage with Lamar.

Wayne, however, clarified in a recent interview that he would not be going to the game and that he had had a direct conversation with Kendrick to address any confusion.

In December, Wayne informed Skip Bayless on his show that he is still “baffled and angry” because his friend was not invited to perform on the largest platform in his own backyard: “I’ve spoken to him, and I wish him all the best and I told him he better kill it,”

Wayne stated what he called the “general” explanation for why he believes he was passed up for the job: “For whatever reason I believe it’s over my head,”  “I don’t know why, period. Obviously, I believe that it’s perfect… I do not know why.”
