Despite being the “holy grail” of all North American athletic events, most people found this year’s Super Bowl to be disappointing in every way. Although Kevin Durant didn’t seem to enjoy SB LIX, his opinions on the game go beyond the Chiefs-Eagles playing a one-sided, non-competitive game.
The Eagles led 24-0 at the half and never let it drop, but Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance garnered more media attention than the game itself. Due to his loyalty to Canadian artist Drake, Durant may now have a little distorted perspective on Lamar’s blunt criticism of OVO and company.
After K-Dot performed “Not Like Us” in front of a crowded stadium, KD responded as follows: “Meant nothing to me,” “I didn’t really pay attention to it to be honest. It was a pretty boring day as far as a Super Bowl. Game got out of hand, Super Bowl Halftime show- I didn’t pay attention to it.”

Kevin Durant and his history with Kendrick Lamar and Drake
Even if the audience in the arena may not have been overly excited by Lamar’s performance, it generated a lot of buzz on social media. It was one thing to bring out Drake’s purported ex-girlfriend Serena Williams to crip-walk during the show. Name-dropping him while looking straight into the camera elevated the disrespect to a new level.
Durant quickly brushed the whole incident aside. Throughout the course of ten years, Drake and KD have maintained a complex connection.
It is obvious that the two get along well. The SB’s first half has generated a great deal of excitement for the halftime entertainment. The energy was sapped from the arena because it was so unfair and uncompetitive. Lamar’s performance would have required a perfect score, and although it was compelling to say the least, it was insufficient to restore the entire group to a joyful state.
