Dion Dawkins, a left tackle for the Buffalo Bills, knows why Josh Allen is playing with such enthusiasm and establishing his case for NFL MVP this season.
Love must be involved. Speaking on Wednesday about the quarterback’s recent engagement to singer/actress Hailee Steinfeld: “There’s something about it,” “When you’re in this world that we’re in, and a lot of people pulling at you and a lot of sources of ups and downs of a roller coaster, and you have that one stable person that you can rely on and go home and hug and get a laugh no matter what, I think that’s dope,” “And that’s what I think is going on.”
Josh Allen claims Hailee Steinfeld is a major factor for his superb season
Allen did not dispute it. To The Associated Press, Allen said: “She’s been a huge part. The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. She’s just the best,”
The Bills (11-3), led by Allen, have been playing well for the majority of the season. On Sunday, they will visit the New England Patriots (3-11). Buffalo, which defeated AFC-leading Kansas City (13-1) and just trounced Detroit (12-2) 48-42, secured its eighth consecutive AFC East title with five games left.
It’s interesting to note how the quarterback has improved even more since popping the question to Steinfeld during the Bills’ bye week on November 22.
Allen has now scored 14 touchdowns in three games, including seven passing, six rushing, and one receiving after completing a throw to Amari Cooper, who lateraled it back to the quarterback. And if an offensive holding call hadn’t negated his basketball-like chest pass over a flat-footed Detroit defender to a wide-open tight end Dalton Kincaid in the end zone, it would have been 15 touchdowns.
