Before this week, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston sat tied in Hot 100 record books for having the longest-reigning unaccompanied #1 hits in the hitlist’s 66-year history (among all artists of color).

That changed on Monday (October 14), however, when Billboard revealed Shaboozey‘s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ – already 2024’s longest-running chart-topper – has moved up the historical ladder after logging yet another frame in the chart’s champion seat.

Shaboozey (born Collins Chibueze) captured the #1 position for a 14th week with ‘A Bar Song.’ Here are the numbers that powered the ‘Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going’ cut’s placement.

• Streaming = 26.4 million U.S.-based streams
• Sales = 6,000 digital downloads
• Radio airplay =  75.6 million audience impressions

Collins already owns the record for longest-reigning solo #1 hit among Black male vocalists, but now the 29-year-old sits beside music titans Carey (2005’s ‘We Belong Together‘ and 1994’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’) and Houston (1992’s ‘I Will Always Love You‘) as their respective solo smashes also ruled the Pop hitlist for 14 weeks apiece.

Notably, he is also in a three-way tie with Mark Ronson (‘Uptown Funk‘) and Los Del Rio (‘Macarena‘) for the second longest-ruling #1 hit among rookie chart-toppers (meaning the song was their first appearance on the Hot 100).

If the Nigerian Country singer manages to land just one more print atop the coveted he will own the record for longest-reigning unaccompanied #1 hit by an artist of color as well as the longest-reigning #1 hit by a first-time charting solo artist.

When all chart-toppers are considered, he has a way to go before he beats the overall champ – Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ ‘Old Town Road‘ – which ruled the all-genre tally for a whopping 19 weeks in 2019.
