Ts Madison brings the food and the funny in her new series ‘Ts Madison Ate That.’

Aptly titled, the WOW Presents Plus show sees the multihyphenate star taste and rate delicacies from around the world.

Indeed, Madison will delve into boxes overflowing with viral treats on a hilarious taste-testing mission. By the end of each episode, it’s revealed whether “She ATE” or “She HATE.”

That Grape Juice chopped it up with Madison, who dished on the hilarious show, surprising Beyonce, being a beacon of the LGBTQIA+ community, and a whole lot more.

Check out the full interview below…

That Grape Juice (Sam): So, Ts Madison. Congratulations on everything. Let’s jump straight into it. Tell us a little bit about ‘Ts Madison Ate That.’ What was the inspiration behind the show and what can we expect from it?

Ts Madison: Here’s the thing. You guys already know that I am a girl that loves to eat. If people have been following me for years, they know that I’m raw and candid about everything. So, food is most definitely at the top of the list of things that I am very raw and candid about. The producers over at WOW Presents Plus watched me get a box of Wunder Eggs from the lady who makes the vegan eggs. So, I opened the box and I said: I bought these and I’m gonna go ahead on and try it and I want people to because everybody else gets paid to say the sh*t is good. Let me taste it and get my view out.

So, I opened it up. And I sprinkled this stuff on. I was like, Oh my God, this is an egg. So, I guess they saw me do it. And they were like, man, so we want to bring you over here. We want you to eat some stuff on a show. We want to give you a show on WOW Presents Plus while you’re eating. I said, Okay, cool. I got to LA. It was during the time that we were filming ‘Bring Back My Girls.’ Honey, let me tell you something. It was amazing. Because I got the chance to eat so much stuff over there. And I didn’t like everything. But I ate so much; I was like, Ooh, okay, are they gonna think I’m greedy? [Laughs]

That Grape Juice: One of the aspects that I really love about the show as well is that you have guests come in to join you. So, it’s food and it’s good conversation. Who can we expect to see alongside you this season?

Ts Madison: Season one, I just had my guys. I have a makeup artist with me. I had my engineer with me and I have Blake. He works at WOW Presents Plus. Next season, we’re gonna be bringing in some folks that can sit by me and really eat it out. But this season was really about me getting my unadulterated opinion. And one thing that I can do is because I have so much meat on my bones, I can sell food to a hungry person. Because if you watch the first episode, when I was eating that pickle, I went back and watched that episode. And I want to eat that pickle again because I saw “me” eating that pickle!

That Grape Juice: You are such a fierce advocator for the LGBTQ+ community. And as we’ve seen, you will go to war for them. How does it feel to be such a beacon for the community?

Ts Madison: Membership has its privileges, and sometimes it has its days. A lot of times, it has more of its days than its privileges. I think there are times that I’ve been so misunderstood because I’m a fierce advocate for some of the LGBTQIA community. I’m definitely a fierce advocate for Black and Brown people. But I tend to get into altercations at times with bio or cis women because some are so hell-bent on not understanding or not trying to learn and want to be offended or attacked. That’s not what I’m trying to do when I combat ignorance. I’m not attacking you. I’m just like, hey, we’re not your enemy and you might be on the wrong side of the fence. You need to get over here to the Jedi Council baby because you’re on the wrong side. At times, it gets to a place where I get overwhelmed with it because I feel so misunderstood. And I don’t want one person to take the right thing that I’m saying the wrong way.

I don’t want an executive at a company or a news station or a television to have a chip on their shoulder as a woman saying, well Madison is always combative with women when it comes down to trans issues and really, I don’t – and try to block something from me. And sometimes they put me in that (drama), and I don’t like it.

That Grape Juice: What I can with certainty is that you do an amazing beacon for the community and your work does not go unrecognized.

Switching gears, the show is obviously centered on…food. If you could only eat one thing forever and always what would it be?

Ts Madison: A man! (I could) eat a man forever and always because the man is always protein. So, the food of my life is a man.

Besides that…

I could eat chicken. I could eat chicken for the rest of my life. When I get up in the morning and I say a prayer, I say God, I’d like to thank you for all the bountiful things that you’ve given me. I’d like to thank you for all the obstacles you’ve given me that I’ve overcome that you’ve helped me overcome. But I want to zero in on something that you’ve given the world that’s so important that we take for granted. And that’s chicken. God, I want to thank you for giving us chicken. You’ve given us chicken so that we can fry it, bake it, smother it, shred it, boil it, eat potatoes with it. Oh, my God, chicken, I could eat that for the rest of my life.

That Grape Juice: The landscape is constantly evolving. And one of the things I’ve loved most about you is our dual commitment to shining in the mainstream while also uplifting the community.

Whats it been like occupying both spaces?

Ts Madison: It’s very important to be in the community and in those mainstream places because some people don’t just zero in on one thing. Sometimes some people don’t stream. They watch linear (TV) or they hear music or they read the newspaper, and I am a girl that feels like the message. Whatever message it is that you’re trying to get, get it up. You can’t just zero that in on Instagram because everybody don’t have Instagram. You can’t zero that in on streaming, because everybody may not stream. You can’t put it all on TV because everybody not watch TV. You can’t put it out in the newspaper, because you got to do it, you have to be universal with everything. This is why I try to make my presence universal with everything. I Instagram, I’m on mainstream TV. I’m always streaming services, Netflix, anywhere that there can be a Ts Madison, I am there. And it’s because representation matters and people need to see their people or need to see themselves in people in everything and everywhere all the time.

That Grape Juice: We’ve got to talk Beyonce. I love the birthday track you did, ‘9481.’ How did that come about?

Ts Madison: So, what happened was, the morning of Beyonce’s birthday, Kevin Prodigy and myself had been talking about like, we want to do something because she’s given us so much. She’s platformed us so high and intertwined her voice with ours on her album (‘Renaissance)’. And it’s her birthday and we want to give her something for her birthday, some music for her birthday. Because we know the queen loves music. So that morning of her birthday, Kevin called me and he said, All right, girl, here’s the beat. I want you to just get on here and talk. And I’m going to do my thing that I do. And I want you to speak and talk. And here’s the beat. And I said okay, cool.

So I went in my closet, I recorded the vocals. I sent them over to Kevin. He matched his vocals up on the beat. And we started and we said, Oh, yes. And I said, Girl, you got to add Kevin [Aviance] on there. And I said, it has to all just tie in together because this is three different pieces of Beyonce’s girls, because I feel like they we’re Beyonce’s girls now. So, it’s three pieces of Beyonce’s girl. It’s you. It’s Kevin. And it’s me. And I said, we need to put this thing here like this so that she can build – so she knows that her girls are giving her a tribute. And so, we did that. He sent it back over to me in less than maybe an hour. I listened to it and I said, Oh God, I love it. I sent it over to my guy that does mastering and he put a little spin on it. I said, Oh my god, this is it. I communicated with my business folks over at Parkwood [Entertainment]. And I said, I want to give this to Beyonce for her birthday. This is from me and the Kevins. And they listened to it and they said, okay hold on, Just a second.

They’ve got all the other Parkwood folks on the line and they said, Oh my god. They want to surprise her with it. I sent over the master track. Beyonce got it. She’s like, Oh my god. She sent us flowers. I just spoke to her last night. She sent us flowers. She loved it, loved it, loved it, loved it, and they posted it. And we put it out and I hope that’s gonna be her anthem moving forward. I love to see what she does with it.

That Grape Juice: I know you are booked and busy! Beyond the current season of “TS Madison Ate That,” what can we expect from Ts Madison next?

Ts Madison: There’s more stuff coming. I have more film stuff that I’ve done. I’m very excited about that. The LBGT community is gonna love it because it’s an iconic thing in our community. It’s a staple in our community that people are gonna see that, oh my God, she’s a part of that too.

And then wherever God leads me to go, wherever my spirit – Gods send me to go for to get the message, whatever the message is, I’m gonna be there. I’m not too big for something small because RuPaul told me, Ts Madison, never ever be too big for the small things because the small things will get you through when the big things ain’t working. So, I’m going to be in everything and everywhere. I promise you.
