The very week Donald Trump‘s alleged involvement in a hush-money scheme was set to make him the first U.S. president to be arrested and face criminal charges, the 76-year-old managed to also make history in an unexpected way: topping a Billboard chart.

Details inside.

As we reported here, the real estate mogul/reality TV personality/politician joined forces with a group of prisoners called the J6 Prison Choir *who were incarcerated for their alleged involvement in the January 6 insurrection) on a song called ‘Justice for All.’

The track – reportedly produced by a “major recording artist” who opted to remain anonymous – interpolates Trump’s vocals reciting the ‘Pledge of Allegiance‘ and credits him as a leading artist.

Released March 2, the tune went on to dominate major digital music retailers like iTunes in the days that followed – even outselling the likes of modern-day hits from performers like Taylor Swift, Drake, Miley Cyrus, Morgan Wallen, SZA, and others.
Its commercial performance landed it at #1 on the current Billboard Digital Song Sales chart – making Donald the first U.S. president to top a Billboard chart.

This Week’s Digital Song Sales Chart

While Trump is the first US leader to top a chart he’s far from the only president to have enjoyed a run on a Billboard tally.
Barack Obama has appeared in the top 10 of the R&B Digital Song Sales list and the (now-defunct) Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart as well as #22 on the Hot R&B Songs tally thanks to his inclusion on Christopher Jackson and BeBe Winans‘ hit ‘One Last Time (44 Remix)’ – famously penned by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Other presidents who have been listed on various charts over the years include Bill Clinton, John F. Kennedy, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson, Dwight Eisenhower, and Richard Nixon.

Despite being this week’s top seller, however, the absence of streaming and radio support blocked Trump and crew from entering the Billboard Hot 100.  Instead, the cut premiered at #4 on the Bubbling Under Chart.
