Deshaun Watson, the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, expressed confidence that he will return “way better than before” despite his injury-plagued and off-field legal troubles.
After re-injuring his Achilles and undergoing surgery in January, Watson shared a video of the 29-year-old training in Browns clothes and a medical boot on Instagram earlier this week.
It is anticipated that he will miss most, if not all, of the 2025 campaign. The Browns finished the previous season with three victories and started four different quarterbacks.
In the video, Watson stated, “Everyone is doubting me. Everyone don’t believe me,” “Everyone don’t think I can get back to where I was.”
“I know and I believe the work that I put in, what I believe in myself,” “The peace that I’ve been channeling these last couple months, I know I’m going to be way better than before.”
Jimmy Haslam, the owner of the Browns, acknowledged in March that the huge acquisition of Watson was “a big swing and miss.”
After the Browns signed Watson to a five-year, $230 million, fully guaranteed contract in 2022, he has appeared in 19 games in three seasons. The NFL Draft, which begins on April 24, is now the Browns’ focus. After the Tennessee Titans, the franchise gets the second-highest pick.
