Deion Sanders, the coach of Colorado, has been absent from the office lately due to illness. According to a USA Today article, Sanders has been coping with a “unspecified health issue” at his Texas estate since the start of the school’s yearly summer football camps last week.
His oldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., told viewers via a YouTube livestream from the Texas residence on Sunday that his father was “feeling well.” However, there is no indication of when he will return.
According to USA Today, Deion Jr. said:
“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he’s going through, what he went through,”. “When we get back to Boulder, I don’t know. I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m going to sit here with him.”
Sanders, 57, canceled his speech at the Sickle Cell Disease Research and Educational Symposium in Florida on June 8. The company shared the news on X:
“Due to an unavoidable last-minute scheduling change, our originally scheduled Foundation Keynote Speaker, Deion Sanders ‘Coach Prime,’ is unable to attend. We are grateful for his support and look forward to future opportunities to welcome him.”

Sanders has previously struggled with health difficulties. He had two of his left foot’s toes removed in 2022 due to blood clots that formed during an earlier operation. Sanders missed Pac-12 media day in 2023 after undergoing surgery to remove clots in both of his legs.
According to USA Today, Sanders alluded to a health concern in a podcast with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel in late May, but he did not elaborate. Colorado plays Georgia Tech at home on August 29 to start the season.
