Cynthia Erivo Reveals She Wrote a Song for ‘Wicked ‘Sequel That Left the “Entire Crew in Tears”

Cynthia Erivo wowed in ‘Wicked’ and is magnetizing all sorts of buzz this awards season.

The booked and busy belle is seizing the moment to look ahead to the film’s eagerly awaited sequel, ‘Wicked: For Good’ – which hits theaters on November 21, 2025.

In a new interview, Erivo spoke on the musical component of the Jon M. Chu production and what folk can expect.

Opening up to Variety about working with composer Stephen Schwartz to create an original song for Elphaba in ‘Wicked: For Good,’ the 37-year-old shared:

“I collaborated on one of the new songs, and it’s so special to me. When we filmed it, the entire crew was in tears. I hope audiences are ready — it’s a song that speaks to the heart of who Elphaba is.”

She went on to tease a darker tone for the sequel:

“We’re diving deeper into the consequences of the characters’ choices. The story is richer, and the stakes are higher. It’s not just a continuation; it’s a transformation.”
