Chart Check [Hot 100]: Jimin’s ‘Like Crazy’ Makes Historic Fall Out of Top 50 After #1 Debut Two Weeks Ago

BTS star Jimin made history when his solo single, ‘Like Crazy,’ premiered atop the Billboard Hot 100 with the year’s biggest first-week sales two weeks ago.

The 27-year-old barely had time to celebrate being the first unaccompanied South Korean act to top the tally before reports began surfacing the tune’s second charting week would suffer a drastic reduction in qualified sales.

Causing quite the commotion among BTS fans once the news was confirmed last week, ‘Crazy’ made history again – that time for dropping a whopping 44 spots to #45.  Besting the all-time record for largest fall among non-holiday songs (previously held by Taylor Swift’s 2020 hit ‘Willow’ which dropped from 1-38 in one week), ‘ Crazy’ uniquely became the first song to slip from the top spot to outside the top 40 in just 7 days.

Found at #52 this week, the song’s downward trajectory continues.  See the numbers attached to the descent.

  • Sales ≈ 8,000 digital downloads sold
  • Streams ≈ 8.1 million U.S.-based streams
  • Radio airplay ≈ 200,000 audience impressions

While the sales figure attached to ‘Crazy’s commercial performance this week was enough to keep it at #2 on the Digital Sales chart, its modest showing on streaming and radio platforms weren’t enough to help keep it in the Hot 100’s top 50.
