Billboard 200: SZA’s ‘SOS’ BLOCKS Pink’s ‘Trustfall’ from #1 Despite Selling Less Than 1% of Pop Star’s Pure Sales

After a fierce battle, SZA has triumphed over Pink on the Billboard 200.

Full story below…

This week on the coveted count, the R&B singer’s sophomore ‘SOS’ has clocked its 10th week at #1 after selling 87,000 equivalent units.

The LP faced stiff competition from Pop rebel, whose ‘Trustfall’ project mounted a strong campaign but ultimately could not rise above the #2 spot.

Preceded by singles Never Gonna Not Dance Again’ and the LP’s title track, the set shifted 74,500 equivalent units.

Here’s where things get interesting.

This week’s showdown ultimately boiled down to opposing strengths and weaknesses.

For, Pink’s pure sales pull saw a combination of various physical and digital download formats amounting to 59,000 of her total sum.

On SZA’s end, pure sales only amounted to 500 (yes, 500) of her overall total. A figure that represents less than 1% of Pink’s pure numbers.

However, SZA’s streaming gravitas is what ultimately helped her pull ahead. Because, with 118.39 million on-demand official streams of the album’s 23 tracks, the TDE songstress generated 86,000 equivalent units.

In reigning at #1, the soulful songbird has achieved her 10th week at the top with the beloved album.

While this is Pink’s first album since 2012’s ‘The Truth About Love’ to miss the top spot, it marks her 8th consecutive studio effort to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
