It didn’t take long for ‘Long Way 2 Go’ singer Cassie to settle the bombshell sexual and physical assault lawsuit she filed against her former boyfriend and boss Diddy.
Just like jaws dropped when details from the singer-model’s suit emerged and featured graphic accounts of him allegedly beating, raping, and forcing her to have sex with male prostitutes while he watched and filmed it repeatedly over the course of their decade-long romantic relationship, mouths were left ajar when the songstress (born Cassie Ventura) and the music mogul (born Sean Combs) issued respective statements to indicate the would-be legal war was over before it could even begin.
Ventura initially demanded $30 million – a sum Combs’ lawyer, Ben Brafman, first asserted was an extortion attempt.
And while the quick turnaround made some critics side-eye Cassie and agree with Brafman’s assessment, others, like former Danity Kane star Aubrey O’Day, suggest the system at large is to blame.
O’Day, who has made headlines over the years for her distate for Combs, quickly took to the net Thursday (November 16) to avow her “full support” of Cassie bringing the allegations to light.
“I’ve been tryna tell y’all for years,” she said in response to the news.
Similarly, Aubrey quickly let her thoughts be known about the case’s settlement.
“Money > accountability. Every time. Welcome to another chapter of the system is well in place.” the 39-year-old posted to her 998,000 Instagram followers on Friday (November 17).
While she has never formally brought complaints against Diddy, Aubrey has hinted that she’s been subject to his alleged sexual misconduct.
“[I was fired from Danity Kane because I] wasn’t willing to do what was expected of [me] — not talent-wise, but in other areas,” she relayed during an interview with ‘Call Her Daddy‘ in December 2022. “[I was the] only girl that was in those types of positions.”
Going on in the shocking interview, O’Day alleged he frequently weighed in on her physical appearance.
“Diddy would be like, ‘You’re not hot anymore. Like, what happened? You don’t have any curves. I can’t get people to think you’re my good-looking person,’” she said at the time. “And there was no #MeToo at that time. There was no protecting anyone at that time. You signed a million NDAs and a million contracts that took away your rights.”
Beyond his statement announcing the settlement, Combs has not responded to the hoopla at large.
Your thoughts?
