Stephen Curry hit his 4,000th three-pointer of his career on the eve of his 37th birthday, solidifying his status as the NBA’s best shooter. He is the first player in NBA history to reach the milestone of making the most three-pointers.
Curry was the focus of the Sacramento Kings‘ defense, which did everything in their power to prevent him from accomplishing the feat on Thursday night. However, it was unavoidable.
Assisted by Jonathan Kuminga, Curry made his 3,999th three-pointer in the first quarter on a wide-open look in transition.

The Kings’ strategy of limiting Curry with excessive off-ball defense forced the big No. 4,000 to wait until the second half. Two defenders rushed to dispute his side-step three-pointer in the third quarter. But it was time. Through the net, straight.
In 2021, he became the league’s all-time leader after making his 2,974th three-pointer, surpassing Ray Allen. Every manufacturer has since raised the bar. James Harden, a guard with the Los Angeles Clippers, has since eclipsed Allen as well. With 3,127 three-pointers to date, Harden is the only player outside of Curry to have made 3,000 threes in his career.
