Why British Columbia Replaced Texas As Netflix’s ‘The Wrong Paris’ Filming Location

Netflix’s “The Wrong Paris” premiered on Sept. 12, 2025, bringing together a star-studded cast. Miranda Cosgrove and Pierson Fodé play Dawn and Trey in this quirky romantic comedy with a twist. The story turns on an unusual case of mistaken identity – not of a person, but of a place. Dawn believes she’s signed up for a glamorous dating show set in Paris, France. But instead, she discovers she’s been sent to Paris, Texas.

The movie delivers a playful, warm vibe full of country charm, with the absurdities of reality TV and whirlwind romance adding to the fun. What really shapes the atmosphere, though, is the setting: the vast spaces, rustic small-town texture and contrast with Paris, France make for an enjoyable ride. Which brings up a question many viewers have asked: “Where was ‘The Wrong Paris’ filmed?” As it turns out, most of the movie was shot far from the Lone Star State.

Where Was ‘The Wrong Paris’ Filmed?

Even though “The Wrong Paris” mostly takes place in Texas, the movie was not actually shot there. Instead, production filmed nearly all the “Paris, Texas” scenes in British Columbia, Canada. Principal photography ran from early September to mid-October 2024, with key locations in Greater Vancouver and Agassiz standing in for rural Texas, per Decider.

These locations (including Pioneer Avenue and Park Street in Agassiz, according to 4Filming) doubled pretty convincingly for Texas. This was thanks to the area’s wide ranch landscapes, rural roads and rustic bars. Cosgrove shared that shooting in BC meant contending with a lot more rain than one might expect in Texas. “We had some really nice sunny days, but there were definitely a lot of rainy days too. It was my first time really experiencing Vancouver. It’s beautiful there, though. We filmed at a lot of ranches, so that was really fun,” she told Decider.

In addition to this, a short stint of filming was done in Paris, France. The scenes there were included later in the movie when the story shifted from the mistaken setting in Texas, to the real Paris in Europe. Overall, the combination of Canadian location stand-ins and authentic French landmarks gives the film a playful contrast between small-town grit and big-city glamour.

Key Scenes: Per Hollywood North Buzz, much of the movie’s reality show ranch sequences, outdoor events, and even bar interiors were filmed on Canada’s West Coast. Although fall weather in the area is much different from Texas’ hot and dusty climate, it is a versatile filming hub.

Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Vancouver is generally considered to be during March and May or September and November. If travelers want to have an experience close to what Dawn experiences in “The Wrong Paris,” visiting during the fall season is best.

Transportation Options: Vancouver has some pretty reliable transportation options, including the TransLink System. This consists of the SkyTrain (which is light rail), buses, and the SeaBus ferry. Other options include bicycle rentals, car rentals, taxis and ride-sharing services.

Vancouver, British Columbia, was the main production hub for “The Wrong Paris.” Despite being filmed in Canada, some landmarks from Paris, Texas were recreated. For example, as People reports, when the women are dropped off in Texas,, viewers can glimpse some unique attractions. This includes the Texas Eiffel Tower and Grand Theatre.

Dawn and Trey’s adorable meet-cute was filmed at a real place in Agassiz, around two hours away from the central parts of Vancouver. The bar they met at was Sossy’s Saloon, so travelers can visit this “The Wrong Paris” filming location in real life if they want to check it out during their trip.

Things to Do: Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium are two highly-rated places to check out. If you’re planning a full day of adventures, these attractions are only about five minutes away from each other.

Where to Eat: The Blue Water Cafe and Chambar Restaurant are two high-end eateries that serve seafood and Belgian cuisine, respectively. These locations are only a few minutes from each other, so travelers can try them both out in one day.

Where to Stay: The YWCA Hotel Vancouver and Samesun Vancouver are some well-rated accommodations within ten minutes of each other via car.
