Stevie Wonder himself confirmed that he’s a huge fan of Carmelo Anthony’s game. Yeah, that Stevie Wonder, the legendary musician! Apparently, he’s obsessed with watching Melo play on the court. Isn’t that wild?
I mean, come on, it’s no surprise that Melo was an absolute beast on the basketball court. But getting praise from someone as iconic as Stevie Wonder is on a whole other level! Just imagine a musical genius like Stevie telling Melo how much he loves watching him do his thing. That’s some next-level admiration right there.
During a recent episode of his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast with co-hosts The Kid Mero, Kazeem Famuyide and guest Rudy Gay, the former New York Knick told a story about meeting Stevie Wonder for the first time. As he begins to tell the story, his co-hosts give him a hard time because they know where it’s going, but Melo is still able to compose himself and powers through.
So, apparently, during the 2011 NBA All-Star Game in L.A., Stevie Wonder was allowed into the locker room to meet the players. As he made his way around the room, he shook Anthony’s hand and allegedly told the future Hall of Famer, “I love watching you play.” Of course, his co-hosts begin to lose it, although Carmelo swears by it and mentions that there’s another part to the saga, but he won’t tell it because Kobe isn’t here anymore and only he can.
