In the 58-year history of the Lombardi Trophy, just nine NFL teams—aside from the Kansas City Chiefs—have won three or more Super Bowls. The fact that Patrick Mahomes and company have won three in the last five years should put things into perspective. But would they become the greatest dynasty in NFL history if they pulled off the three-peat in February? Chris “Mad Dog” Russo cautions against naming these Chiefs once more.

K.C. is aiming for more than simply the first-ever three-peat in Super Bowl history. They are also aiming for their fourth in six years, which would tie the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970s for the most during that period.

Mad Dog Talks about Tom Brady’s Patriots having a greater dynasty than Patrick Mahomes

Many people consider the Steel Curtain club to be among the greatest dynasties in history, along with the Vince Lombardi Packers and the Tom Brady Patriots. And even with a three-peat, Mad Dog thinks it will still surpass the Mahomian Chiefs.

Mad Dog stated: “When you look at these other title teams, these dynasty teams, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, the Patriots, they’re not about just the one player. This Chiefs team is about the quarterback,”

“Pittsburgh has nine Hall of Famers on it, they won with defense and they won with offense. Green Bay had nine, 10 Hall of Famers on it. This Chiefs team’s got Kelce who’s a Hall of Famer, Jones who’s probably a Hall of Famer, and Mahomes who’s a Hall of Famer,”

His reasoning there is difficult to refute. Few other players on this Chiefs team appear to be headed for the Hall of Fame, though head coach Andy Reid will undoubtedly wind up in Canton as well.

Ten HOFers in addition to the head coach were on the Steelers teams that won four Super Bowls between 1974 and 1979. Lombardi himself was one of eleven members of the Lombardi Packers.
