Tiffany Haddish Takes Viewers On A Transformative Journey Across Africa In New Docuseries
Emmy Award-winning actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish is set to share an intimate side of herself with audiences in her upcoming six-part docuseries. Tiffany Haddish Goes Off premieres exclusively on Peacock on November 13. Essence notes that the series follows the Girls Trip star as she embarks on a transformative four-week journey across Africa. She’s joined by three longtime friends: Selena Martin, Shermona Long, and Sparkle Clark.
Unlike her previous entertainment ventures, this documentary series captures more than just the comedic moments for which Haddish is known. It showcases vulnerability, personal growth, and the healing power of sisterhood, as the four women explore breathtaking destinations across Africa. These include Cape Town, South Africa; Victoria Falls and Harare, Zimbabwe; and Zanzibar, Tanzania.
Inside Tiffany Haddish’s Africa Journey
In the trailer released by Peacock, Haddish explains why she chose to travel with her longtime friends, stating, “I just want to be with people I feel safe with, I don’t have to perform for.” She further describes her companions as her “day-ones,” highlighting the authentic nature of their decades-long friendship.
Throughout their travels, Haddish and her friends participate in various activities that showcase both adventure and cultural immersion. According to trailer footage, these experiences include bungee jumping and visiting animal habitats. Haddish also participates in cultural ceremonies and engages with local communities.
The series also appears to address a 2024 controversy in which Haddish faced criticism for comments she made about a grocery store in Zimbabwe, which some viewers found insensitive. As shown in the official trailer, the docuseries seems to incorporate this moment as part of Haddish’s learning journey.
Expect Some Surprises
The docuseries may contain surprising revelations for viewers. Per Us Weekly, Haddish hints at an unexpected wedding during the journey, saying, “I damn sure didn’t expect to come back married.” Footage then shows Haddish in formal attire, holding a bouquet, though the exact context of the ceremony remains unclear.
