Upon the release of her ‘Anti-Hero’ music video, Swift had been criticized for a scene in the video where she steps on a scale and it lands on the word “fat.”
However, ‘The View’ co-hosts came to the defense of Swift. Sunny Hostin said:
“They missed the point. For someone who’s an artist, she gets to have agency over her artistry. She was describing a personal experience, and quite frankly, it’s a personal experience a lot of women experience. I’ve experienced it, and men. You get on the scale and you’re a perfectly normal weight and all you see is fat, all you see is, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m five pounds heavier than I should be.'”
Whoopi Goldberg would go on to urge those who have criticized the video to “just let her have her feelings” and to not watch it if they do not agree with it.
Swift previously shared that the song was about her insecurities, saying she has never “delved this far into my insecurities in this detail before.”
