After gaining eligibility this time, the Buffaloes were selected for the Alamo Bowl and played their first bowl game in four years. However, they did not present a strong image of themselves because they lost 36–14.
Fans who watched must have been devastated. But Whitlock was not a fan or a viewer. When he asked for the greatest takeaways and included some strip club fodder on social media on Sunday, he acknowledged as much.
