SZA Fans Erupt After ‘SOS’ & Its Hits Were Snubbed for Album, Song, & Record of the Year GRAMMYs

Thanks to her blockbuster 2022 album, ‘SOS,’ R&B singer-songwriter SZA entered the 2024 GRAMMYs as the night’s most-nominated act (9).

Rightfully so, as the project had not only birthed multiple Billboard Hot 100 dominating hits (‘Kill Bill,’ ‘Snooze,’ and more), but was easily one of the most critically acclaimed albums of its genre in years.

For its critical and commercial successes over the last year, many of her dedicated fans figured the project would be a shoo-in for the award show’s most prestigious honor.

Much to their surprise and chagrin, the LP and its content did not capture one of the Big 3 categories it was nominated in.

After watching Song of the Year get awarded to Billie Eilish, SZA (born Solana Rowe) applauded as Miley Cyrus won Record of the Year.

For some Solana supporters, the final straw came with Taylor Swift collected the Album of the Year trophy (the fourth time she’s done so over her career).

Taking to Twitter in droves to express their disappointment, many did not hold back their criticism of the GRAMMYs.

For some, the snubs were reminiscent of the GRAMMYs’ treatment of her debut album, ‘CTRL,’ which entered the 2018 ceremony with 5 awards but left with none.

Unlike that night, at least SZA did capture three trophies on Sunday night (February 4) – Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best Progressive R&B Album.
