Stephen Curry Offers Draymond Green Some Advice After Copying His Celebration

The ‘night-night’ gesture used by Stephen Curry has gone viral throughout the league. Curry’s signature motion, laying his head on his hands as though he were going to sleep, was first used during the 2022 NBA Playoffs and has since gained international recognition. On the soccer pitch, even famous celebrities like Lionel Messi have imitated the celebration.

Curry’s own colleague has now tried it, and the outcomes have generated a lot of discussion. Draymond Green got his chance to shine during the Golden State Warriors‘ 97-94 victory over the New York Knicks.

Green made a crucial shot with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game to give the Warriors a six-point lead. Green boldly performed his rendition of the “night-night” celebration as the Chase Center audience cheered, a moment that was both amusing and, as Curry would later explain, significantly better than his earlier tries.

At the post-game press conference after the game, Curry was questioned about Green’s rendition of his signature move. The four-time NBA champion had a lot to say about the performance of his colleague.

Curry observed: “I did know he’s evolved his version of it since the Minnesota game earlier in the year. He’s softened it a little bit,”

Curry was alluding to a previous incident in which Green tried the “night-night” celebration following a late-game dunk over Rudy Gobert to seal a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

His excessively forceful execution of the move, which included a spectacular run down the court, swiftly became the focus of internet memes. Moses Moody laughed and called it ‘the nightmare’ instead of ‘night-night’ in the Warriors’ locker room due to the way it seemed.

Curry did admit, though, that Green had softened it and kept it more in line with the original.

Curry smiled as he continued: “He’s brought it down to where a pillow is supposed to really be. I realized he does everything aggressive and with his whole body, so I’m giving that a solid A- effort on the ‘night-night’ tonight. That was beautiful,”
