Okay, so here’s the deal. Shaquille O’Neal, you know, the big man himself, is having some doubts about whether ESPN will keep him around for another season on ‘Inside the NBA’. Now if you’re a fan of the show, you know that Shaq brings that fun and larger-than-life personality to the panel. But it seems like he’s not too sure if the big bosses over at ESPN are feeling the same way.
Now, we don’t have all the details on why Shaq is feeling this way, but Shaq knows something we all have no idea about. Do you think the NBA legend is blowing things out of proportion or there is more to his doubts?
But hey, let’s not jump to conclusions just yet. Maybe ESPN will surprise us all and renew Shaq’s contract. I mean, the man is a basketball legend and brings a whole lot of entertainment to the show.
O’Neal, though, is yet to sign a contract extension with the show and appeared to throw his future into further doubt when he dropped an F-bomb live on air.
With the show taking place in front of a live audience in San Francisco at the start of All-Star Weekend, O’Neal raced his friend and fellow analyst Charles Barkley to the video board at the back of the set.
Upon returning to the desk, he shouted: ‘In the words of Marshawn Lynch, I’m tired as s***,’ leaving his fellow hosts stunned.
He then followed that up with: ‘We getting fired anyway Ernie, f*** it!’
The final comment was to lead host Ernie Johnson, who is under contract into next season – while O’Neal’s own future remains up in the air.
He previously spoke about his desire to stay with TNT, before the show was plunged into doubt when it was revealed they were to stop carrying NBA games at the end of the 2024-25 season.
So for now, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that Shaq sticks around on ‘Inside the NBA’. Because let’s face it, the show just wouldn’t be as fun without him. ESPN better renew his contract for next season.
