Sexyy Red Says She’s the Most “Hated Female Rapper”: “People Don’t Like Seeing Me Win”

With anthems like ‘Get It Sexyy,’ ‘Skeeyee,’ and ‘Poundtown’ under her belt, Sexyy Red could easily be painted as one of the most exciting and well-received female Rap stars to emerge in the 2020s.

Let the St. Louis native tell it, however, she often feels her public perception suggests the opposite.

Undoubtedly a polarizer for her racy antics on-and-off the stage, Sexxy (born Janae Wherry) dropped by ‘Big Boy’s Neighborhood’ recently to dish on her career-at-large but also detail the impact public scrutiny of her persona has had.

Look inside to see what she said.

When not chatting about some of her most memorable collaborations with superstars like SZA, Drake, and Bruno Mars, Red opened up about balancing motherhood with fame, having an NSFW wardrobe malfunction on stage, and more.

As the conversation progressed, the rapstress dished on how her increased success has brought increased criticism.

“I feel like [negative comments] are getting bigger,” she said (as seen in the video above). “I feel like I’m the most hated female rapper. They hate on me the most. I get a lot of love, but I know when they be hating on me. It be like little inside sh-t. They trying to put me down. I be feeling like is y’all sending people to comment under [my social media pages]? I feel like it’s some hidden agendas.”

When quizzed on where she think the hate comes from, Sexyy believes there’s more than one source.

“It could be labels, it could be everybody. I just be feeling like motherf-ckers be trying to bring me down. They don’t like seeing me win, and I be seeing people say that in the comments like ‘whey do y’all hate her so much,'” she relayed.

All-in-all, the 26-year-old doesn’t let the naysayers leave her feeling defeated.

“I been knew I was the sh-t; can’t nobody take that from me,” she said.
