Sergio Hudson’s 10th Anniversary Show Celebrated The Poise Of The Modern Woman
Last night, Sergio Hudson marked the 10th anniversary of his label with a striking evening runway show set against the iconic backdrop of the New York Public Library. His designs, timeless and commanding, echoed the grandeur of the setting, enveloping the white carpet in a cinematic, almost pantoptic energy that made every guest feel part of fashion history in motion. The room pulsed with excitement as notable attendees—including Monica, Yolanda Adams, and Tamron Hall—gathered to celebrate the designer’s milestone.

After a whirlwind decade defined by vision, perseverance, and cultural impact, Hudson reflects with ESSENCE exclusively about the journey with gratitude. “Every morning I get out of bed, and I get to do this for a living. I feel like it is living Black history and showing and normalizing it for our community in this industry.”

And for the Sergio Hudson woman, his vision echoes the legendary words of André Leon Talley on the dynamic lives of women: “They have dinner parties to go to, social functions, opening nights, ballet, opera—they have a lot to do. They have to be dressed. They need new clothes.”
That sentiment lives and breathes in every Sergio Hudson collection. From razor-sharp, sexy suiting to voluminous ball gowns, sleek latex pants, and statement-making silhouettes, Hudson designs for the woman constantly in motion—the woman whose presence is required everywhere and whose wardrobe must rise to meet the occasion.

Reflecting on the essence of the Sergio Hudson woman, he shares, “I think my clothing helps these women find their inner strength. For some reason, I think that’s more of a spiritual thing than it is a physical thing, because I put a lot of love into what I do.”

And this show was no different. It opened with a sharply tailored white blazer, cinched at the waist with a sleek belt and paired with a calf-grazing mermaid skirt. An oversized white floral brooch bloomed dramatically at the shoulder, setting the tone for the evening. Tailoring remains Hudson’s signature strength—every silhouette was sculpted, nipped, and precision-fit to celebrate each model’s form.

From there, the collection unfolded into floral-patterned latex pants and dresses that fused romance with edge, before transitioning into embossed leather jackets and coordinated sets rendered in striking snakeskin prints.
The finale delivered pure drama.
