Tyler Perry is clearing up confusion after it was reported the filmmaker called out Janet Jackson and Jill Scott for holding up the third installment of Why Did I Get Married. Tyler Perry wants you to know it wasn’t him, despite what recent reports suggest. The famed film mogul has responded to a false report that he “called out” Why Did I Get Married franchise co-stars Janet Jackson and Jill Scott for "holding up the next installment." So, where did the report come from? Apparently, Tyler spoke to Entertainment Tonight where he was asked about the possibility of a third film at Byron Allen's inaugural TheGrio Awards. “If Janet [Jackson] and Jill Scott say ‘Yes,’ there may be a Why Did I Get Married Again?” Perry told ET’s Kevin Frazier. “So, waiting for them to say it. Waiting for the word.” Entertainment Tonight posted the link to the interview with the caption, “Tyler Perry reveals to ET who has to say ‘yes’ for the third ‘Why Did I Get Married?’ movie to get the green light.” The post landed on Jill’s Twitter feed, so she reposted it. Atlanta Black Star also posted the interview with the title, “Tyler Perry Calls Out Janet Jackson and Jill Scott for Holding Up the Next Installment of ‘Why Did I Get Married’, Scott Responds" Once the MADEA creator saw the Atlanta Black Star headline, he decided to address it to clarify neither Janet or Jill were holding up production of the third installment. “I guess people write these kinds of headlines for click bate.[sic],” Tyler wrote in an Instagram story post. “It’s sad. I didn’t call out Janet and Jill and they are not holding up another Why Did I Get Married. I haven’t written a word on a script but I do have an idea and a concept of where our lives and love would be fifteen years since the first one.” He continued, “We’re fully grown now and I think some of our marriages would be solid and we would be dealing with what most married couples are dealing with at our ages. Menopause, mid life crsis, our kids going off to start their own lives and marriages and out parents getting older and also how you mature in marriage it just starts to get better or fall apart...but again no one is holding up anything and I’m not calling anyone out. The media mogul shared the film poster of Why Did I Get Married Again, which would be the third installment to follow the 2010 sequel Why Did I Get Married Too? and the original Why Did I Get Married, which premiered in 2007. The original cast includes Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Tyler Perry, Sharon Leal, Malik Yoba, Michael Jai White, and Richard T. Jones. Fans fell in love with the four couples as they all worked their way through the trials of marriage. Why Did I Get Married grossed almost 55.9 million at the domestic box office.
