Rihanna Says She’s “Thankful” for ASAP Rocky’s Not Guilty Verdict: “The Glory Belongs to God”

Beyond A$AP Rocky and his legion of fans, no one breathed a bigger sigh of relief after the rapper (born Rakim Mayers) was acquitted of felony assault charges on Tuesday (February 18) than his superstar girlfriend Rihanna.

Shortly after the verdict was handed down Tuesday evening, Rih took to social media to share her elation over the ruling.

“The glory belongs to God and God alone,” she posted to Instagram stories for her 150 million followers on the platform. “Thankful, humbled by His mercy.”

That message of gratitude followed after a Los Angeles jury handed down a not guilty verdict clearing Mayers of two felony charges for assault with a semiautomatic firearm against his childhood friend A$AP Relli.

After the verdict was read, Rocky ran to Rihanna to hug her and express their relief in front of the court.

If convicted, the hit rapper would have faced up to 24 years in prison.
