As if having 2023 GRAMMY gold in sight isn’t enough recent news to celebrate, the chart-topper also learned their Hot 100 #1 hit, ‘Unholy,’ has been blessed with a Platinum plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Monday (November 14), the RIAA took to press to announce Smith’s Kim Petras-assisted hit ‘Unholy’ had met its threshold for Platinum status – a measure that equates to sales of 1 million in the United States. The feat is particularly impressive as the song – which is set to line the tracklist of Smith’s forthcoming album ‘Gloria‘ – was just released commercially on September 22.
While it’s Kim’s first time being attached to a certified song in America, for Sam it’s the 21st song they’ve had to be certified Platinum or higher.
The RIAA update pushes Smith’s cumulative digital sales to 50 million, making the 30-year-old one of the best-selling singers of the digital era.
