To say Drake‘s commercial stats are unrivaled would be a gross understatement.
On the Billboard side of the house, the GRAMMY-winning rapper stands as the most-decorated act in history – currently leading with the most overall appearances on the Hot 100 (298), Hot 100 top 10 hits of all time (69), most top 5 hits of all time (36), most Hot 100 #1s among rappers (11), most cumulative weeks in the Hot 100’s top 10 among all artists (374), and many other unprecedented achievements.
His triumphs at Billboard are mirrored at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), a victory lap he recently extended thanks to a set of new certifications.
More inside.
Taking to press Wednesday (August 16), the RIAA announced three Drake titles had risen in certification rank. See the list below.
3x Platinum (for sales equivalence of 3 million in the U.S.)
– ‘Jimmy Cooks’ (Single)
1x Platinum
– ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ (Album)
– ‘Sticky’ (Single)
The ascension of ‘Sticky’ and ‘Jimmy Cooks’ pushed Drizzy’s total Platinum plaque accumulation (for singles) to 76 – extending his reign as the organization’s most-decorated singles act. For context, his nearest competitor – on-and-off-again rival Kanye West – has 51 Platinum singles to his credit.
With the certification upgrades Drake also extends his title as the best-selling singles artist in digital music history overall, with his careerwide figure now resting at the 188 million records sold mark in the U.S.
The news came shortly before the Canadian hitmaker made headlines for announcing his next album, ‘For All the Dogs,’ is en route – yet another project he’ll likely take a bite out of history books with.
