Multiple sources have gone to press to indicate Madge is hard-at-work planning a global tour to commemorate the 40th anniversary of her 1983 eponymous debut album that features the megahits ‘Borderline,’ ‘Holiday,’ and ‘Lucky Star.’
The 64-year-old’s first stage outing since 2019’s ‘Madame X’ theater tour (which was abruptly canceled due to the pandemic and the star’s own health problems), dates for the yet-titled 2023 tour are said to be officially announced in the coming weeks with the jaunt itself slated for launch later this year.
While reps for the Pop icon are mum on the news, Madge herself has indicated an interest in hitting the road again. In an interview with Variety published summer 2022, she revealed: “I’m sick of living in the past! I want to go on tour again, I’m a creature of the stage. That is my happy place.” In the same interview she went on to share, “I’m just looking for interesting, fun ways to rerelease my catalog and introduce my music to a new generation.”
The anniversary tour news comes just months after her 50-song greatest hits compilation project, ‘Finally Enough Love,’ debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 – making her the FIRST female to score a top 10 album on chart in each decade since the 80s. That effort came as part of an eight-figure, multi-year deal the Pop diva signed with Warner Bros.
