After losing to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs were deeply hurt. But the loss gave quarterback Patrick Mahomes a new lease of life, and he sent a strong message to his opponents in the last few games of the regular season.
Not only was Sunday’s 30-21 loss to the Bills at Highmark Stadium the Chiefs‘ first of the season, but it was also their first in nearly 11 months. They most recently lost to the Las Vegas Raiders 20–14 on Christmas Day, 2023. Many people will recall the loss as a wake-up call for Andy Reid’s team, which helped them win Super Bowl LVIII in the end.
Mahomes thinks there will be a similar sense of urgency as there was last year after the loss to the Bills.
Patrick Mahomes’s reaction to defeat
According to the star quarterback, the team’s passion to win was reawakened by the setback, which forced them to venture outside of their comfort zone. Mahomes acknowledged that the club suffered its first loss of the season as a result of his multiple errors during his opening drives. He cautioned, though, that the club did not play to its full ability against the Bills.
He said : “I think it’s going to spark us to have more urgency, especially at the start of football games, especially with the offense.” “That comes from me and turning the ball over on the first drive. It’s something you can’t do in big games like this.” “So we will get back to work and try to use this as a spark so that we can be a better football team in the end. The undefeated thing was cool, but that’s not our ultimate goal,”

There are seven challenging games in front of Mahomes and company. The Raiders, Broncos, and Chargers are their three division opponents, and they still have the second game against them. Two of these games included comebacks in the fourth quarter, and most of them were decided by a score below that.
