Tyla took to social media earlier this week to tease a “mystery guest” would join her on the official remix to her breakout hit, ‘Water.’
Released Friday (November 17), fans – after incorrectly guessing the likes of Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Latto, or Trevor Jackson would be accompanying her on the revamp of the global smash – learned it was Rap superstar Travis Scott who earned the coveted slot.
In what came as the ultimate dupe, however, the South African hitmaker unveiled not one but TWO updated takes on the GRAMMY-nominated song.
Tapping award-winning DJ and producer Marshmello to assist on the latter remix, hop inside to hear his dancefloor-ready rendition.
The Marshmello mix of the Sammy Soso-produced tune may be just what’s needed to hoist ‘Water’ into the Hot 100’s top 10.
If that happens, Tyla will become the first South African female ever to enter the chart region in the hitlist’s 65-year history.
Hugh Masekela remains the Hot 100’s highest-charting act from Rainbow Nation overall thanks to his 1968 hit, ‘Grazing in the Grass,’ which peaked at #3 on the tally at the height of its popularity.
