Kylie Minogue’s ‘Tension’ Tops Worldwide iTunes After Hitting #1 In 40 Countries

Apparently the whole world is dancing to a new beat thanks to the ElectroPop masterpiece that is Kylie Minogue‘s 16th studio album, ‘Tension.’

Released Friday (September 22), the Aussie Pop royal went to chart battle with the critically acclaimed effort led by singles ‘Padam Padam‘ and its title track.

Undoubtedly facing high expectations given the gargantuan success of ‘Padam,’ early reports of the commercial response to the 11-song effort suggest ‘Tension’ is well on its way to meeting the challenge on a global front.

Less than 24 hours after landing on digital download and streaming services, ‘Tension’ has risen to the top of many of them – most notably the iTunes real-time sales tallies of leading global markets like United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Germany, Egypt, Italy, South Africa, and more.

At writing, the LP’s performance as sales leader in 40 countries (and counting) makes it the tally’s best-performing new album in the entire world.

Faring handsomely on Apple Music charts as well, the ‘Tension’ sales – once added to numbers being amassed on streaming outlets – could lead to an impressive debut on the Billboard 200 in the United States.

She was last spotted on the tally in 2020 when her album ‘Disco‘ landed at #26 – her highest mark met there since capturing the #19 spot with ‘Aphrodite‘ in 2010. Her personal best on that hitlist remains the #3 peak of 2001’s ‘Fever‘ (due in great part to the success of its single ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head‘).
