Kevin Durant Clowns Kendrick Perkins After His Remarks

In the NBA, this week has been rather eventful. 63 players, including several celebrities, switched teams at the most busiest NBA trade deadline in history. Zach LaVine is a King, Jimmy Butler is a Warrior, Brandon Ingram is a Raptor, Anthony Davis is a Mav, De’Aaron Fox is a Spur, and Luka Doncic is a Laker, among many others.

Additionally, several players were referenced in trades that were never completed. Kevin Durant, for example, is said to have ended trade negotiations between the Suns and Warriors after stating that he had no interest in returning to the Bay.

We didn’t anticipate hearing much from KD because the Suns were off and Durant was the subject of speculations all day long until the last minute of the deadline, but the future Hall of Famer noticed something on Twitter that he couldn’t ignore without responding.

They discussed what the Suns needed to do to unite the club and work things out for the remainder of the season on ESPN’s NBA Today trade deadline special. Kendrick Perkins and Udonis Haslem were debating the necessity of a team meeting when they questioned if they had the type of person on the team who would be the outspoken leader and command the respect to get guys to follow orders.

During that conversation, Perkins said that he (together with Nick Collison) assumed that role in Oklahoma City rather than KD, Russell Westbrook, or James Harden.

After learning of it, Durant had to shut it down, describing it as “the craziest sh*t I’ve seen all week,” although he acknowledged that’s a high standard to meet.

In recent years, KD has been weary of the leadership concerns after arguing with Stephen A. Smith and Charles Barkley over their criticisms of him. KD was not going to overlook it now that his old teammate had now entered those waters, and even though he was having a very hectic deadline week, he wanted to make sure everyone knew Perk was exaggerating.
