In February, singer-actress Keri Hilson sent her dedicated fans into a frenzy with reports that this may be the year they finally get their hands on the long-awaited follow-up to her sophomore album, 2010’s ‘No Boys Allowed.’
And while buzz surrounding her promised return to music may have cooled as 2023 progressed with no updates, Hilson has once again lit a fire under the forthcoming project – this time during an interview with fellow GRAMMY nominee Tank aboard his popular ‘R&B Money Podcast.’
On episode 72 (which was lifted to the podcast’s official YouTube channel over last week), Keri waxed honest about everything from her rise to prominence, transitioning from being a songwriter only to being a performer as well, memorable sessions with top music artists, acting, and more.
Given all that she has accomplished over the last 20 years, Tank quizzed the songstress on what was next.
“Now it’s back to music,” Hilson responded (as seen in the video above). “That’s all there’s left to do. I’m not done. I’m not finished.”
Later in the chat she elaborated on what’s kept her away from releasing new music for so long including “stress, depression, division amongst” her team, and the death of her father.
“It took a second; a lot of things happened that prevented it. I blame it on one thing, but really it was years of a struggle…I fought through that, but I’m free, and I’m ready,” she relayed.
Although careful not to reveal a tentative release date, Keri did share that plans are actively being made to schedule the new music’s unveiling.
“We’re starting to take meetings to figure out how we want to do this thing [and] where we want to do this thing,” she stated.
