If you’re looking for your daily dose of and reminder how much “Black girls rock,” look no further than Kerry Washington‘s podcast ‘Street You Grew Up On.’

The EMMY winner’s series dedicated to the “influence that the street that people lived on when they were young has on their lives,” Washington’s most recent guest was none other than GRAMMY-winning diva Kelly Rowland.

While there, the songstress shed tears reminiscing on the influence “sisterhood” has had over her life – from “warm” holidays watching her mom and aunts to eventually becoming a member of Destiny’s Child – the best-selling girl group in music history.

The deeply insightful interview arrived on the Web just a week after Rowland rocked ‘Kindred by Parents‘ magazine.

Acting as the publication’s covergirl for their ‘Black Joy Issue’ with sons Titan and Noah, Kelly spoke candidly about the the triumphs and challenges of being a “boy mom.”

“I just want to get this right. I want to really be a part of bringing some really amazing young men forth into the world. That was my only prayer,” she revealed. “My only prayer was to have really great young Black men in this world who were sure of themselves and didn’t have to be told who they were.”

Inspiration on how to accomplish the goal came from a surprising source: late rapper Nipsey Hussle.

“I wanted my boys to have integrity and I got that from Nipsey Hussle. It’s amazing to me that he would talk to his kids about making the right decision even when no one is watching. That was everything. Nobody knows how much, how hard you work, but you do it because you love it. I want them to be the kind of men who are proud of themselves,” she shared.
